For Mum by jupiternwndrlnd
For Mum
This girl has been on my WIP table for a year. I finally got her done. I was fretting over her for a long time because I wanted her to be perfect. She is a tribute custom dedicated to her new owners Mum. It was requested that she be soft and feminine with her tribute tattoo as the symbol. I took some creative license in adding the background of white roses and the angel wings. Painted with acrylics and sealed with dullcote.
Poke'Cake by jupiternwndrlnd
Made this girl for the wonderful Nicole! Rehaired with nylon, painted with acrylic (the doily background and shimmer of the frosting don't show up well in the pic) and sealed with dullcote.
Saja by jupiternwndrlnd

I made this custom for the wonderfully patient Saja!
I had a lot of fun with her symbol. Her hair is color changing thermal hair from RDUS! She was painted with acrylics and sealed with dullcote

Phoenix by jupiternwndrlnd
This little lady was made for my friend Shannon
She has thermal color change hair. There are pearly detail in her feathers, but the camera just ate them

Christmas Sweater!
This girl was dyed (years ago) and rehaired with nylon. All details are painted with acrylic. (the metallic finish to the paint didn't show up at all in the photos, boo)

here we go again

Why did you disable the comments on your twilight ponies?

Unfortunately, I was getting flooded with comments that were asking me to make another, or if they were for sale.

That's understandable.

Your ponies are absolutely AMAZING. I'm not much of a fan of (I think) G3 Pony bodies/heads, But, As soon as I saw your The Twilight Saga ponies, I swear, I think I'm starting to like them. Your painting is incredible, And, oh my god, can you detail! You've earned a watcher! I am a dummy!

I'm sorry if this adds more to your messages; but I was wondering where you get the pony models to make customs?

Most of them have different manes, so could you let me know where you purchase those too?

Do you just buy the plastic models and then paint over them, make them yourself or get them from a certain shop?

I buy ponies at various place (Target, Walmart, Ebay, etc) and remove the original factory paint, as well as their hair.
I replace the hair with nylon hair purchased at one of several online doll hair retailers. And paint using acrylic paints.

Just another question - when doing the hair, do you glue it in or create a mould to hold it in place?

There are 2 methods of rehairing. One involves a re-hairing tool and glue, the other is usually called "the needle method" (which is what I started with) I have a tutorial for that here:…
